How to Speed up Your Computer (XP) Start Up


If your computer starts up slowly, it could be programs running in the background. Unless you take a look, you won't know what programs load when you power on your computer. Speed up you booting time by stopping these programs from slowing down your computer.

Load your system's configuration utility. Click the "Start" button. Click "Run" and type in "msconfig" and hit the "OK" button.

Click the "Startup" tab. Uncheck the program you want to stop from starting up when you power on your computer.

Review any programs that you are unsure of. If you don't know what something is, Google it. Unchecking the wrong program could cause problems the next time you power on your computer. Choose carefully.

    Thank you so much for sharing this way of speeding up a computer. I will follow the steps, because I have some annoying problems with it and I must wait quite a lot until my Windows opens. Hopefully, I'll be able to resolve it alone, if not I have a friend who works at Toronto IT services... he will help me with everything for sure.
