How to Stop Microsoft Security on Start Up


Microsoft Security is a malicious program, also known as Microsoft Security Antivirus. Microsoft Security creates a registry entry so that it can start every time you start-up your computer. In addition, Microsoft Security slows your computer, may lock your desktop and may redirect your Internet searches. Fortunately,
Microsoft Security can be removed manually. Note that the steps described apply to the Windows Vista and Windows 7 operating systems.

Instructions

1.   End Processes

Press "Ctrl," "Shift," and "Escape" simultaneously to open the Task Manager.

Click the "Processes" tab of the Task Manager.

Click the "Show Processes From All Users" button. A list of all the processes on your computer appears under the "Image Name" heading.

Right-click "Microsoft Security Antivirus" from the list of processes and select "End Process" from the menu that appears.

Close the Task Manager.

2.   Delete Registry Entries

Click "Start," type "regedit" into the "Search Programs and Files" box and press "Enter" to open the Registry Editor.

Right-click "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft Security Antivirus" located in the left pane of the Registry Editor and select "Delete" from the menu that appears. Be careful to delete only this registry entry. Deleting the wrong registry entry can cause significant system-wide errors.

Close the Registry Editor.

3.   Delete Files

Click "Start," and type "Microsoft Security Antivirus" into the "Search" box.

Right-click on the "Microsoft Security Antivirus" file that appears in the "Results List" and select "Delete."

Restart your computer. The Microsoft Security Antivirus is removed from your computer and will no longer start at start-up.
